We just moved into a new house where our master bedroom is completely on the opposite side of the house from our son's room. The moniter that we have now works only sporadically (most of the time it flashes "out of range"). I really need one that will work well! It probably doesn't help that our bedroom is converted from the old garage, so there are literally 2 brick walls between our room and our son's room. Please help! Thank you!

I have a Mobi and it works great in my house. My house isn't huge but I can be upstairs and my daughter's room is downstairs on the other side of the house and it is clear. During the day the pic is in color, but turns to black and white at night. The only static has been when we have it too close to our remote controls and cell phones. It will get fuzzy but we move the items and it is fine.
Not sure if it will work between brick walls, but I have been out in our garage on my treadmill and had no problem.

Long distance baby shower-help!?

We are giving a shower for my daughter when she visits us in PA. at Thanksgiving. She lives in California. Any ideas how to save on shipping things or how to go about this? We thought of gift cards, but it doesn't sound like fun opening gift cards and seems a little cold. Thank you.

UPS Ground is not that expensive to ship. Just make sure the guests know that diapers would, maybe, not be the best gift to give at this baby shower because of shipping. If people DO buy you diapers....you can return them to Walmart and get a gift certificate (even without a receipt) and then she can take THAT back to California and re-buy the diapers out there.
Small items can easily be placed in a suitcase for when she flies back....outfits and monitors and sheets and blankets and such. If she doesn't have room, give her another suitcase and pay for the extra baggage charge of that suitcase!
The BIG BIG things can be purchased with gift cards. If your guests are aware of the dilemma with bigger items they will go with smaller ones.
Like I said, though, UPS Ground is really reasonable with shipping. I use them for my business and it takes FIVE business days to ship California to PA (Monday to Monday). A 14 Square Box weighing around 15 pounds costs about $17.00 to ship. Not that bad.
Hope that helped! Have a great shower!
(By the way....a cute diaper cake for the shower can be disassembled and the ingredients taken back on the flight with momma or shipped back to California with the other gifts. PLUG PLUG....)
